[Oct 9-10] Angie Eng: Liminal
Liminal is a multimedia performance that continues the tradition of visual music by combining new inventive tools such as the VideoBass, French avant garde experimental cinema tricks and customized music/video software (Max, Jitter, VDMX and Module 8). This collaboration of music and video crosses genres: experimental jazz, neo-abstract expressionism, puppetry and live experimental cinema. The performance will be followed by an artist's talk on Oct. 10th 7 pm at Harvestworks with Anyma (programmer Michael Egger/Maite Colin). Supported by ProHelvetia Swiss Arts Council, mediaThe foundation inc, Experimental Television Finishing/Presentation Funds and the Foundation for Contemporary Art.

[Oct 9] Mari Kimura: Eigenspace
“Eigenspace” a composition for Augmented Violin (IRCAM) and multi-channel diffusion commissioned by Harvestworks. Taken from "eigenvalue", a mathematical function used in analyzing the bowing movement, in "Eigenspace" Kimura's musical expression is extracted by the bowing motion sensor technology, interacting with image and sounds in realtime. She will also perform her works "Elastic Canon" and "Voyage Apollonian" for augmented violin, and "Wrestling an Angel" written for her by British composer Andrew Lovett.

"Whirlpools" In a parallel world in which we live in, there are energy points where the "visible" and the "invisible" creates whirlpools, a swirling body of energy, the entrance to the infinite spiritual cycle known as "dreamtime". Satoshi Takeishi explores multi-cultural, electronics and improvisational music with local musicians and composers in New York. [Sep 5] Critical Bands Revisited (Governor's Island Remix)
Rescheduled for Labor Day: Thomas Martinez will perform by broadcasting separate but interwoven field recordings made on the island to FM radio receivers placed in the grass outside of Building 10-B. The audio tracks, processed using custom made software by the artist, create a beautifully altered version of the island’s real sonic landscape by magnifying and coloring small moments in time. The recordings mix with the natural sound environment to create two related but wholly different realities.

[Jul 1 - 31] NYEAF Rainforest V / Composers Inside Electronics
An electro-acoustic environment conceived by David Tudor and realized by the group Composers Inside Electronics. The installation is located in Fort Jay, part of the NEW YORK ELECTRONIC ART FESTIVAL Wave(form)s - an Exhibition of Electronic Art on Governors Island, and is accompanied by a performance on Jul 30, and two workshops on Jul 6 and 16, to introduce the audience to a world of sound based on resonance.

TRANSIT presents works by Tristan Perich, Lesley Flanigan and Daniel Wohl in THE NEW YORK ELECTRONIC ART FESTIVAL WAVE(length)s Electronic Music concert series in New York's historic St. Paul's Chapel in lower Manhattan. Woven by Tristan Perich opens up new timbral possibilities for an acoustic ensemble, Lesley Flanigan's Expand/Release incorporates hand-built speaker feedback instruments and Daniel Wohl's Corps Exquis incorporates elements of chamber-rock shows and electro-noise.

Woody Sullender is a pre-eminent experimental banjo performer, playing with and against the cultural baggage of the instrument. While alluding to the "traditional" musics of his home states of Virginia and North Carolina, he explores a diverse plane of plucked string music from around the world as well as incorporating punk, noise, free jazz and drones. [Jun 22] JG Thirlwell: Dinoflagellate Blooms
The new album from JG Thirlwell's Manorexia project, Dinoflagellate Blooms, will be released in June 2011 on JG's Ectopic Ents label. Composed, produced and performed by Thirlwell, the album is mixed in 5.1 surround sound. The album will be presented in its surround-sound glory at a special listening event at Harvestworks in New York.
